Welcome to the Higher Education Better Regulation Group
Regulation is a vital tool in securing confidence in the quality of UK higher education and not an end in itself. The role of the HEBRG is to promote a positive approach to regulation that is transparent, accountable, proportionate, consistent, and targeted where relevant. This approach has never been more important in an economic and financial climate where the principle of self regulation in other sectors has come under close scrutiny and found wanting.
The predecessor organisation to HEBRG, the Higher Education Regulation Review Group (HERRG), achieved significant gains in consolidating data, inspection and regulatory demands across some of the principal regulators. I look forward to continuing these developments with the members of this new group and its executive officers.
